It took a long long time to be "civil" to each other but eventually we learned that what had brought us together had always been there, we liked each other, for the sake of our children, we learned to like and respect one another.
When he died a little of me did too, I realized under different circumstances, without all the baggage that had been brought into the relationship, we probably would have lasted much longer. A lesson learned, bittersweet though it was. It took a long long time to be "civil" to each other but eventually we learned that what had brought us together had always been there, we liked each other, for the sake of our children, we learned to like one, respect one another.
